Volunteers deliver Empty Pantry Fund bags - Maryville Daily Times

The reindeer may have been absent, but there was plenty of rain Sunday morning as Blount County residents in need received bags of food from the Empty Pantry Fund and toys from the Junior Service League of Maryville’s Toys for Blount County.

Townsend resident Melvin England said the food and toys received make all the difference in the world. “Every little bit helps,” England said. “I live on a fixed income, and this really helps with (Christmas). The weather was bad today, but I knew they (the volunteers) would be here no matter what.”
