TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - The Cherokee Nation and the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma established a new partnership on Thursday to start a mobile pantry at the tribe’s veterans center.
The mobile food pantries will distribute items quarterly at the Cherokee Nation Veterans Center in Tahlequah.

The first distribution is scheduled for May 29. There will be two more distributions in 2018 and four are scheduled for 2019.
The mobile pantry will include 10 pallets filled with food that is expected to weigh nearly 10,000 pounds.
The Cherokee Nation has already identified 125 families that will receive food from the pantry.
Veterans said they are thankful for the partnership and expect the program to improve their quality of life.
