Reedsburg Area High School Art Club donates food pantry - Reedsburg Times Press

Members of the Reedsburg Area High School Art Club used their art skills to give back to the local food pantry.

The club donated money raised from its Full Circle event to the food pantry May 2. For the event, art club members created ceramic soup bowls where attendees could purchase a bowl and had the option to sample 15 different soups. The club sold about 120 bowls and raised $1,000 to donate towards the food pantry.

During the visit, President Bess Little gave a tour of the pantry and informed art club members the pantry sustains itself through grocery and monetary donations. She said the money not only helps them buy groceries but also teaches the members about being a part of the community.

“It’s teaching the kids to give and to help other people,” Little said.

It is the first time the art club hosted the event and it plans to host again next year.

“It feels good we were able to use our artistic skills not only to give back to the food pantry, but also to spread art throughout the community,” said Molly McBride, a junior and member of the art club.
