A St. Joseph woman is working to make sure everyone has food on the table while also proving that little things can make a big difference.

Saturday marked the grand opening of St. Joseph's first Little Free Pantry.

The pantry is located near the intersection of Edmond and 24th Streets.

The idea is modeled off the popular trend of little free libraries and allows visitors to take food they need or donate if they're able.

Founder Vanessa Steinman says the pantry is already filling up.

She hopes the pantry will give people access to food on days when places like Second Harvest Community Food Bank are closed.

If you're in need of food or would like to donate, you can visit the pantry at 2402 Edmond Street.  It is open 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
