Judges choose ‘Life on Lake Erie’ winners

Eleven diverse photographs won the judges’ compliments as the favorites in the 2019 Life on Lake Erie photo contest. Photographers were recognized by the members of the Ohio Lake Erie Commission at its Sept. 18 meeting at the Black River Landing in Lorain.

“Lake Erie has so much to offer, and these photos tell it all,” said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.  “From sunsets and starry skies to sailboats and shorelines, this year’s winning submissions truly capture the immense beauty of life on Lake Erie.”

“You can tell the photographers appreciate their subject, and sharing their love for Lake Erie through their photos will help Ohio promote the jewel on our northern border,” said Ohio Lake Erie Commission Executive Director Joy Mulinex. “I thank everyone who submitted photos for this year’s contest.”

This year’s photo winners captured the vast array of places one can experience Life on Lake Erie. The winning photos can be found on the Ohio Lake Erie’s website, lakeerie.ohio.gov.

The commission sponsors the contest annually and encourages amateur photographers to reveal their passion for one of Ohio’s most valuable and dynamic natural features, Lake Erie. In 2019, the commission received 97 photo entries capturing a variety of images across the Lake Erie shoreline.

Winning photos are featured in the commission’s traveling Lake Erie photo gallery, which will be exhibited at destinations along the shoreline beginning in the spring.
