ROCKFORD (WREX) – Northern Illinois Food Bank announces expanded hours for its pantry in Rockford.
The pantry originally opened in February on Research Parkway and served people for two days a week, but the need was so great, that the food bank wants to serve people for four days a week by the end of October. Leaders at the food bank hope people in Winnebago County take advantage of their services to stay healthy.
“It is important for all of us to have the nutrition our bodies need so that we can learn and grow and thrive,” said Julie Yurko, who is the President and CEO of Northern Illinois Food Bank. “And that is why, should someone be struggling to get the food that they need on the table, we are here to help. We would love for them to come and visit us and get those nutritious groceries.”
Northern Illinois Food Bank is also asking for volunteers to help staff the pantry.
