SHELBY, Wis. (WXOW) — A new food pantry was unveiled in the Town of Shelby on Sunday.
In a collaborative effort, the Mormon Coulee Lions Club and the United Church of Christ built a food pantry and placed it in front of Harvest Lane Thrift Shop.
“Well, you see a lot of people that are in need of things,” Lions Club secretary and builder Jery Kendhammer said. “Some that don’t make a lot of money and this will help them out to support their family and I hope a lot of people use.”
Store manager Kari Tikal said she is hopeful that the new addition will help people at her store leave less hungry.
“When people come in and they get food then we go ahead and re-fill the food,” Tikal said. “So they get to leave with clothes, they get to leave with food, and they could have sheets and blankets pots and pans. Anybody in need of anything … that’s our ministry here.”
