A fundraising dinner dubbed “An Uncommonly Good Evening” brought around 70 people to The Commons at The Volunteer Center of Grant County on Saturday evening to enjoy live music, appetizers, and a live auction to help support the Grant County Food Pantry.
Sam Schramski, executive director of The Commons, said the event raised $6,100 that will help provide food boxes to low-income Grant County families. The money will help support the coordinator’s salary.
Music was provided by Ray and Brooke Cressler and attendees enjoyed appetizers and drinks by Little Toad Creek Brewery and Distillery.
Items auctioned off included pottery, a wool rug, oil paintings, jewelry, a piano and a new bicycle.
“There are so many kids in Grant County who need food support,” said John Warner, who attended the event. “Any event [by The Commons] I try to support.”
DeAnna Mooney, who is a former volunteer at The Commons, said she was having a good time at the event.
“It’s always fun when there is an auction,” she said. “I am meeting new people and there is interesting food. This is a good evening with wonderful weather.”
