The Midland County Emergency Food Pantry Network has received a $75,000 grant from The Dow Corning Foundation toward the purchase and renovation of a building to house the EFPN office, EFPN warehouse and the SAMS Food Pantry, which is sponsored by St. John's Episcopal Church.
A newly renovated space will improve access for clients and optimize the movement of food in and out of the pantry and warehouse. The warehouse receives community donations of food to share with EFPN's eight pantries and thanks to a generous community, donations have exceeded the current capacity of the warehouse. Expanded warehouse space will enable an increased amount of fresh produce to be more efficiently distributed and make room for future expansion of the BackPack Buddies Program.
"EFPN is very grateful to the Dow Corning Foundation for awarding us this grant," the organization stated in a press release. "We are honored to have received this grant to help us get closer to our vision of 'always food in every home.'"
