FORT WALTON BEACH — Children in Crisis will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Jan. 16 for its new food pantry — Kay's Cupboard.
The ribbon cutting will be held at the Children in Crisis Neighborhood on Hurlburt Road at 3:30 p.m. on Jan 16, according to a press release from Children in Crisis.
Kay's Cupboard food pantry and donation center will help Children in Crisis better utilize food drives and other donations for more than 100 children who call the Children in Crisis Neighborhood home each year.
Funding for Kay's Cupboard was made possible by Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Don Litke and family, in honor and memory of Litke's wife Kay.
Children in Crisis opened its first family foster home in its neighborhood in 2008 and have since cared for almost 800 children.
"That works out to over 95,000 days/nights of a safe, loving home for an at-risk foster child," said Ken Hair, CIC president. "Opening Kay's Cupboard will help us reduce cost for feeding and clothing our children thanks to the Litke family and our very supportive community."
