New Pet Pantry Warehouse store set for December opening - Greenwich Time

High-end pet goods store Pet Pantry Warehouse is set to open its second Greenwich location in December, according to co-owner Adam Jacobson.

The new store at 1182 E. Putnam Ave., right off the Interstate 95 exit in Old Greenwich, will serve as a satellite shop for Pet Pantry’s 290 Railroad Ave., location. Pet Pantry was founded in Greenwich in 1945 and has since become a fixture in town for both its products and community outreach efforts. These include partnering with Adopt-A-Dog for Puttin’ On the Dog events and providing the meals for canine units in several towns, including for Greenwich’s police dog, Kato.

An Asian-fusion restaurant called Baang Cafe & Bar was in the space on East Putnam prior to Pet Pantry taking it over. Baang closed its doors in 2014, and construction on the building transforming it into a two-story retail space for Pet Pantry is nearing completion.

In May, many Greenwich residents celebrated a decision issued by the Connecticut Siting Council that rejected plans by Eversource Energy to turn Pet Pantry’s Railroad Avenue location into a new substation. Pet Pantry subleases the space from Eversource and would have been forced out were the plans approved.

Pet Pantry has won awards from Greenwich Magazine, Westchester Magazine and Pet Products News. It will have six locations once the Riverside store opens. Others are in Larchmont and Rye, N.Y., New Canaan and Wilton.
