Dinner to raise funds for pantry - ThisWeekNews

The HEART Food Pantry and Messiah Lutheran Church will present their fourth annual "Harvest Festival" dinner and fundraiser at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, at 1200 Waggoner Road, Reynoldsburg.

The $9 per adult ticket price, with $5 admission for children ages 5-12, benefits Reynoldsburg's HEART Food Pantry. It also provides each patron with a Thanksgiving dinner "with all the trimmings."

Diners also get the chance to win door prizes and bid in a silent auction.

Children ages 4 and under get in free, said Margaret Messick, operations coordinator.

For tickets, contact the church at 614-866-4386.

Messick said the Singing Buckeyes Barbershop Chorus and the HEART Festival Choir will perform at 3 p.m., followed by the meal from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

She said carryout meals are available.

Silent-auction items include a Charles Penzone Salon gift basket valued at $50, Columbus Symphony tickets valued at $100 and 10 tickets to CAPA's 2017 Summer Movie Series.

Also up for auction is a Dick Masheter Ford car detail job, valued at $180.

The food pantry moved earlier this year from 240 Outerbelt St. in Columbus to its new Reynoldsburg location, 6475 E. Main St., suite 126.

Messick said the move was "to be closer to the people we serve."

Karl L. Hanf, pastor of Messiah Lutheran and board president of HEART, said Franklin County's poor population "nearly doubled" from 2000 to 2013.

"We count on the community to help us keep our shelves stocked," he said.
