This College Student Started a Food Pantry in His Dorm Room - TeenVogue.com

Alabama A&M University student Justin Franks started a miniature food bank in his dorm room, because apparently there are still good people left in this world!!!

Justin created the pantry, which is based on a donation system, after he realized that "a group of students had always been going to bed hungry."

"They didn't have any food," he told ABC News. "The cafeteria here closes pretty early, and a lot of students here don't have the money to go outside of campus to eat. I wanted to cater to those students."

Because the cafeteria closes at 6 p.m., a lot of Justin's peers couldn't make it for dinner in time, and were simply skipping the meal. He used $40 of his own money to get started with ramen noodles and juice packs, which he made available from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. One the community caught wind of what Justin was doing, his initiative really took off.

"After I posted about it on Facebook, it just exploded from there," he said. "We started getting donations from so many people: sororities, alumni and others in the community.”
