More than a hundred people stood in line this morning to get food from a mobile food pantry.
The Central Texas Food Bank’s mobile food pantry travelled to Waco from Austin to serve the McLennan County community.
Dozens of volunteers helped pass out produce, meat, canned food, and other non-perishable items.
Organizers say the truck was carrying more than 8,000 pounds of food.
In just one hour, volunteers served more than 160 households.
“I think it’s great. It helps a lot of families,” said Waco resident Britney Harris. “I recommend anybody that needs food before they have their money or anything like that. It’s a great opportunity to get food.”
The Central Texas Food Bank has a total of two mobile food pantries and are in the process of getting two others.
The trucks travel places in Central Texas like Waco and Mexia to provide food for those who need it.
