HOULTON, Maine — The Louisiana-Pacific Corp. Houlton facility and Andy’s IGA recently donated $500 in food to the Catholic Charities Food Pantry of Houlton.
The Catholic Charities Food Pantry serves 24 pantries all over Aroostook County. The organization also serves as the distribution agency for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Emergency Food Assistance Program and operates Farm For ME, a six-acre farm that grows fresh vegetables for distribution to Catholic Charities’ food pantries in the County and statewide through a partnership with the Good Shepherd Food Bank.
LP employees purchased $250 in food from the local Andy’s IGA, which was matched by an additional $250 in food by store owner Andy Marino.
“Our employees are proud members of the Houlton community and were happy to support the Catholic Charities Food Pantry through this fundraiser,” said LP Houlton Human Resources and Safety Manager Ryan Bushey. “We are also grateful to Andy’s IGA for joining us to make the donation of food even greater.”
