ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The East Anchorage Rotary Club set up shop for a monthly mobile food bank.

Every month, more than 100 Alaskans will visit the pantry on the second Saturday, according to organizers.

It's established in the parking lot of the Fairview Recreation Center. East Anchorage Rotary volunteers distribute fresh produce, dairy items, and perishable food items to those in need.

"In the winter it is just a regular need and some folks are getting laid off or they are not getting the hours that they need so, we are seeing more and more people in all of the months and especially in the winter time," Dave Kester, an East Anchorage Rotary Volunteer said.

Last year, the mobile pantry provided more then 48,643 pounds of food to Alaskans across the city.
