Food donations are being collected through Nov. 2 by CULTEC Inc. to benefit the Brookfield Food Pantry.
The food pantry is run by the town’s Social Services Department and provides food to about 375 Brookfield residents. An average of 3,833 meals are provided each month to 180 households, with about half of those meals for children.
Non-perishable food items and household supplies may be dropped off at CULTEC’s offices, at 878 Federal Road in Brookfield, during the normal business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Donations may also be made from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. While large sizes are appreciated, several smaller sizes will enable them to give to more clients.
Grocery store, pharmacy and other gift cards and financial donations are also accepted. Checks should be made payable to “Brookfield Social Services” with a notation for the food pantry.
The items most in need are applesauce, coffee, ketchup, soup and broth, canned pasta, canned tuna, cereal, cleaning supplies, dish soap and laundry detergent.
Canned chili, salad dressing, cooking oil, pasta, pasta sauce, canned chicken, oatmeal packets, pint sized waterbottles, napkins, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo and conditioner and toothpaste are also needed.
