The Boys Scouts of Troop 258 at Shalom United Methodist Church will be doing its annual Scouting for Food drive in Carroll and some of the nearby developments on Saturday. The collected food will be taken to the Bloom-Carroll Pantry for distribution to local families in need.
Residents who would like to participate should place their non-perishable food items in a grocery bag on their front porch or mailbox before 9:00 AM on Saturday and Scouts will come by and pick it up. Suggested food items to donate are canned meat, canned tuna fish, peanut butter, pasta, canned vegetables, canned beans, soups and canned fruits.
BCHS
Bloom-Carroll High School announced a leadership class is new for this school year. Creating a culture of leaders is the goal behind BCHS’s new Leadership Training Institute (LTI). The LTI was launched at the beginning of this school year in collaboration with leadership coach Jack Slavinski. Slavinski works with school districts across Ohio on leadership and culture development, teaching and encouraging students how to make a lasting difference by being a leader of positive influence. Slavinski is on a mission to help students create the best, most resilient version of themselves and their teams.
LUMC Halloween
Lithoopolis United Methodist Church, corner of Market Street and North Street, is having an Indoor Treat Trail on Thursday, October 31st from 6-7:30pm in the Multi-Ministry Center during the village of Lithopolis’ Trick or Treat. There will be candy and games plus a rest station with drinks and popcorn.Bags of candy donations are needed for the event. Please drop them off to Tiffany in Room 103.
LUMC will be hosting a Joyce Meyer On Demand Women’s Conference from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 9. The cost is $25 and covers all 3 sessions as well as a catered lunch. The registration deadline is Nov. 4. Forms are available online and at the Connection Center at the church.
Open mic night
Community members are invited to open mic night every Sunday, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Eldridge and Fiske Brewery, 9 Columbus Street, in Lithopolis. Food may be brought in by attendees as the brewery does not sell food.
Sub sale
Knights of Columbus at Saint John XXIII Catholic Church in Lithopolis is again having a Giant Prepaid Jersey Mike’s Sub Sandwich Sale for the OSU vs Michigan game. Prepaid orders are accepted by Nov. 24; pick-up will be game day Nov. 30, 10:30 a.m.until noon, at the parish parking lot. Order forms are available by calling (614) 920-1563.
Food pantry day
Hope United Methodist Church, 83 Columbus Street in Canal Winchester will hold First Sunday this coming Sunday to stock the food pantry. Continuing needs especially acute are in canned fruits, baking goods such as small bags of flour and sugar, salt, muffin mixes, puddings & jellos; also personal needs: deodorants, shaving creams, disposable razors, shampoos, toilet paper, and paper towels.
