MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Northern Michigan University students getting their food from the university Food Pantry will have some fresher options this year. The Food Pantry planted a fruit and veggie garden just outside of Gries Hall on Memorial Day and it's just starting to bloom.

The garden has rainbow chard, zucchini, tomatoes, and other veggies. The pantry wanted to be able to give students fresh, healthy options.

“It's been fun to see students get excited about trying new vegetables and cooking a recipe that they've never done before and they're excited to be able to have some fresh vegetables,” said Haley Rhoades, Assistant Dean of Students at NMU, and adviser to the Food Pantry.

Students just need their NMU ID to access the Food Pantry.
