Indianhead thrift store to close; pantry will remain open - Ashland Daily Press

Indianhead Community Action Agency’s Sawyer County Connections thrift stores in Hayward will cease operations by Aug. 31, the agency has announced.

ICAA officials said that while the decision was difficult for the board of directors, the agency is excited about what the future holds for the food pantry that is housed in the same building at the Connections store. The pantry will remain open at the same location.

ICAA continues to work with the Emergency Food Assistance Program and Feed My People to find ways to continue improving the access of healthy food options for those who need it in Sawyer County. ICAA hopes to partner with existing food pantries in the area.

ICAA CEO Jennifer Shearer said, “Access to healthy food options is extremely important in our rural communities. Although the Connections store will no longer be in operation, we intend to continue providing the same level of service that Sawyer County residents have come to expect through the food pantries, as well as the other programs and resources ICAA provides.”

The food pantry will be open Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. For more information about ICAA’s Sawyer County Food Pantry, call (715) 634-5076.
