BRIDGEPORT — The Connecticut Food Bank’s mobile pantry visits Bridgeport Hospital 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month, including July 16, Aug. 20 and Sept. 17, to distribute food to those in need, including patients, families and neighbors from the surrounding community.
The pantry is in the former School of Nursing parking lot at 200 Mill Hill Ave., Bridgeport.
Bridgeport Hospital, 267 Grant St., also hosts a farm stand every Thursday, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., through Oct. 10. The stand will be outside the main entrance at Grant Street Plaza. It will offer fresh produce for purchase from Smith’s Acres Farm in Niantic and will be open to staff, visitors, patients and the community.
The hospital is partnering with the Bridgeport Farmers Market Collaborative to increase access to healthy, local fruits and vegetables for residents, regardless of income. Farm stand customers have the ability to have their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program dollars doubled toward the purchase of fresh produce.
