South Wood Emerging Pantry Shelf holds drive through food pantry - WAOW

WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WAOW)– The South Wood Emerging Pantry Shelf (SWEPS) held a drive through food pantry Wednesday afternoon in Wisconsin Rapids.

SWEPS partnered with Feeding America to hold the drive through food pantry in the parking lot of Wisconsin Rapids United Methodist Church.

410 people went through the drive through and 25,000 pounds of food were provided by Feeding America. Everything from frozen meats to pasta, pizzas, and fresh fruits and vegetables were available.

The food pantry is serving a need in Wood County with many people in the are looking for a consistent food source.

“We’re very welcoming, we’re non-judgmental. They can come to the SWEPS food pantry every thirty days. They can also take advantage of the community meal program through the Neighbor Table that’s held at this church,”  said Terri Rapp the Chairperson for SWEPS.

Over 60 volunteers participated in Wednesday’s food pantry. There will be another drive through food pantry August 28, which requires an appointment that can be made through the SWEPS website or by calling the food pantry.
