Monroe Food Pantry needs April donations - CTPost

MONROE — The Monroe Food Pantry is restocking for April, and preparing for the upcoming Easter holiday. The following is a list of what the pantry needs to fill its shelves:

Canned fruit — mixed fruit, pineapple

Low-sodium canned vegetables — carrots, creamed corn, mixed vegetables, sliced potatoes, whole potatoes

Regular canned vegetables — sliced beets, whole beets, spinach

Low-sodium canned beans — black beans, cannellini, pinto

Baked beans — pork, chili with beans

Canned spaghetti with meatballs

Low-sodium condensed soup — chicken noodle, clam chowder, cream of chicken, cream of mushroom, tomato

Low-sodium ready-to-eat canned soup — chicken noodle, clam chowder, beef stew, vegetables stew, vegetable soup, vegetable soup with beef

Low-sodium broth — chicken, beef, vegetable

Regular chicken stock

Low-sodium pasta sauce — jarred, canned

Regular jarred pasta sauce

Low-sodium tomatoes - crushed, whole

Tomato paste

Whole wheat pasta — egg noodles, elbows, penne, shells, ziti

Regular egg noodles

Shrimp ramen

Cold cereal — corn flakes, cheerios, raisin bran, rice krispies

Hot cereal — oatmeal, steel cut oatmeal, cream of wheat

Bread crumbs — regular, Italian

Pancake mix

Cake and brownie mix

Sugar

Boxed meals — Hamburger Helper, Instant potatoes, Knorr Pasta Sides, Knorr Rice Sides, Pasta Roni, Rice-A-Roni

Salad dressing — balsamic, blue cheese, French, Italian, ranch

Ketchup, mayo, brown mustard, yellow mustard, pancake syrup

Strawberry jelly/preserves

Beverages — decaf black tea, regular coffee, hot chocolate, apple juice, cranberry juice, low sodium V8

The pantry is also accepting grocery store gift cards and cash donations for Easter holiday meats and to replenish its meat supply.

The pantry, 980 Monroe Turnpike, is open from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, and one Saturday per month, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Food donations can be received during regular business hours or left in the red bin on the left side of the food pantry after hours. Monetary donations and gifts cards can be received at the Food Pantry during business hours, mailed to the Monroe Food Pantry at 7 Fan Hill Road, Monroe CT 06468, or left at the Monroe Senior Center, 235 Cutlers Farm Road.
