Shelby County food pantry receives venison donation - WHIO

400 pounds of venison was donated to the Agape Distribution Center, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife.

The food pantry specializes in providing food for those whose income qualifies them to receive such benefits.

Food pantries rarely get donations of red meat and must spend a lot of donated money to buy meat.

The donated venison was illegally harvested, and once the cases were finalized in court, the meat was ordered to be given to those less fortunate, according to a release. Venison that’s donated must be processed by a state inspected and insured meat processor.
