Food Pantry to offer help during government shutdown - Boothbay Register

The directors and volunteers of the Boothbay Region Food Pantry are eager to offer assistance to any community members who are furloughed by the federal government, and who are not receiving paychecks because of the government shutdown.

The pantry’s shelves provide a generous four-to-seven day supply of nutritious food, and we offer vouchers redeemable at our local Hannaford for dairy products and for fresh fruit and vegetables. We serve anyone in need who lives in one of the four towns of the peninsula: Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb and Southport.

The pantry is located in the basement of the Boothbay Harbor Congregational Church, UCC, at the corner of Route 27 and Eastern Avenue in Boothbay Harbor. It is open from noon to 2 p.m. every Friday, and on the second Monday of each month from 5 to 6 p.m.

The food pantry’s support, which includes food donated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, will continue while the shutdown persists.

We look forward to helping you and perhaps can offer advice about where to turn for additional assistance.
