(Kirksville, MO) – The Pantry for Adair County Is getting a few upgrades, and October 28th they are holding an open house to show the community how much they’ve grown since opening.

“It’s so exciting. When we started in July, we were serving about 120 households a month. We are up to over 400 now since last July, so just the fact we’re getting that and we can have people that are feeling food insecurity for whatever reason they can come to the pantry and we can help them out,” said Lisa Ahrens the president of the Pantry for Adair County.

A new walk in freezer and cooler will give the pantry more space to accept more cold and frozen food from the Missouri Food Bank in Columbia.

Volunteers helped build the addition.

It was primarily funded through money raised during Greek Week at Truman State University, a grant from the Missouri Extension, and private donations.
