WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Three days after starting "Tigers Helping Tigers Pantry" at Eisenhower High School, the cabinets are filling up with soap, food, jackets, and school supplies.

Abby Scheer, a junior at Eisenhower, says she started the pantry after recognizing the need in her school.
“I was sitting with someone at lunch and I had noticed how, every day, he was wearing the same pants and shirt," she explains. "I wondered if that is the only outfit he has."
That interaction sparked an idea to start a pantry to help her classmates. Scheer brought the idea to her principal, Dr. Christie Meyer. With Meyer's blessing, Scheer created the "Tigers Helping Tigers Pantry." It started operating September 28.
The pantry houses school supplies, personal hygiene items, non-perishable foods, jackets, coats, and other warm weather clothes.
Students request help from the pantry by filling out a slip in the counseling office. Their supplies will be gathered for pickup at the counseling office so that students can use the pantry anonymously.
“That makes it so it’s not so nervewracking and embarrassing too," says Scheer. "Not that you should be embarrassed, but I know it would be embarrassing for me to have to ask for help. It just makes it so you feel okay doing it and asking for help and not feeling ashamed.”
