The Illinois Valley Food Pantry’s Thanksgiving Distribution will be held at the pantry on Saturday, Nov. 17, and anyone desiring to receive food must be registered with the food pantry by Nov. 14.
Volunteers will pack food for approximately 1,500 individuals — which is 600 families needing food assistance.
The pantry serves people living in La Salle, Peru, Oglesby, Utica, Cedar Point, Tonica, Lostant, Leonore and Lowell. Deliveries to homebound, elderly people living in LaSalle, Peru and Oglesby will be Monday, Nov. 19.
To be eligible for the food order, people must be registered with the food pantry.
“The faces of hunger are changing. Your support is very much appreciated,” says Donna Hess, pantry executive director.
Suggested items to donate
Instant potatoes, boxed stuffing mix, canned corn, green beans, small can of yams, Jell-0, small corn muffin mix, envelope of gravy mix, small can of cranberry sauce, turkey, cash or checks. Donations (monetary or food) may be brought or mailed to the pantry located at the new location; 122 Wright St., between First and Second streets in downtown LaSalle during working hours — 9 a.m.-noon Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday.
