Conway, S.C. (WPDE) —
Coastal Carolina University is currently in "Pack the Pantry: Parking Amnesty Week" as students get used to the new school year.
Those who receive parking tickets may “pay” by contributing five non perishable food items to the CINO Pantry.
"There's no intent for us to write more tickets or gain more revenue in that. Why don't we use this opportunity to teach them about another wonderful program on our campus in the CINO pantry. And by being able to combine those two efforts we think we'll be able to get a lot of new food items for the food pantry," said Steve Harrison, vice president for auxiliary enterprises for CCU.
There are still exceptions, however, including, no parking in a reserved space, near a fire hydrant or a fire zone or blocking a disabled person's space or curb.
