McCook Pantry volunteer Marilyn Brandt accepts a check for $800 from Bob Elder, representing customers of The Sports Shoppe in downtown McCook. Elder said that, during “March Madness” (the time of the annual NCAA college basketball tournament), he and his staff offered a 20 percent discount to shoppers also making a donation to the Pantry. “We’re just the go-between here,” Elder told Marilyn. The donation check represents The Sport Shoppe’s customers’ support of the Pantry, he said.
