Student Food Pantry to hold food drive - Kotatv

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - The Sociology/Human Services Collective, a student organization at Black Hills State University’s Rapid City campus, will hold a food drive Feb. 26 to March 16. The group will be collecting non-perishable food items to restock the shelves of their BHSU-RC Student Food Pantry at 4300 Cheyenne Boulevard.

According to Feeding South Dakota, one in eight South Dakotans is food insecure, meaning they don’t have access to sufficiently nutritious food. For some, they don’t know how they’ll get their next meal.

Hunger is a reality for people in Rapid City, even college students. The Sociology/Human Services Collective established the student food pantry under the east stairwell in the BHSU-RC in January.

Anyone interested in donating to the drive can drop off donations in the bins near the BHSU-RC’s security desk on the main floor.
