FRANKLIN — Twin Rivers Interfaith Food Pantry has appointed Trisha Wildes as its new pantry director. Trisha is a resident of Franklin and has been serving as a volunteer courier, picking up our New Hampshire Food Bank Fresh Rescue donations at Hannaford and BJ’s several days a week, for the past two years. The Pantry also announced that, when schools close due to poor weather conditions, the Pantry will remain open. Although the facility may be short-handed during storms, the staff will do its best to make visits efficient and friendly. Should there be a storm so serious that the Governor declares a state of emergency, the Pantry will post its closing on the WMUR closings list.As part of its relocation last August, the Pantry changed to what is called a “Choice Pantry” method of food distribution. Instead of waiting at the counter for a box to be filled, our neighbors now use shopping carts and gather items themselves. Folks can directly view the choices, read labels, and select the items they know their families will use. Pantry hours at our new location in the lower level of 2 Central Street (across from Benson Auto) continue to be Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 9-11a.m., and Wednesday evenings, 5-7 p.m. The Pantry serves the communities of Andover, Danbury, Salisbury, Hill, Tilton, Northfield, Sanbornton, and Franklin. Any residents of those towns in need assistance with food are encouraged to call the Pantry.Donations of non-perishable food items are always needed. Some items that are particularly needed include oatmeal, granola bars, 100 percent juice, and dried beans. Financial support and volunteers are also always needed. Donations of plastic shopping bags and aluminum beverage cans are also gratefully received. For more information, call Trisha at 603-934-2662.
