The fall community food drive for the FISH Food Pantry will be held this Saturday October 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at five local grocery stores. They include Sherm’s Thunderbird, Fred Meyer, Grocery Outlet, Safeway, and Albertsons.
A variety of donated food items are needed to enhance the options of those using the FISH Food Pantry.
The Pantry is in particular need of canned fruit, baby food, boxed cereal, and canned soup. Donations of canned tuna and meat, flour and baking mixes, canned vegetables, peanut butter, condiments and toiletries (tooth paste, tooth brushes, toilet paper, etc.) are also needed.

Requests for emergency food assistance from low-income families in Douglas County remain high. The FISH Food Pantry provides emergency food parcels to an average of about 930 households per month, which includes almost 3,600 people. Among those, 30% are children.
The typical household seeking emergency food assistance from the FISH Food Pantry will visit the Pantry 3 or 4 times during a year.
The FISH Food Pantry is located on the non-profit campus at 405 Jerry’s Drive just north of Costco in north Roseburg.
