Cook off yields $801 for pantry - The Preston Citizen

The Dutch Oven Cook Off Benefit for the Preston Community Food Pantry sponsored by Bomgaars Saturday, Sept. 30, was a great success, said pantry manger Steve Aust, in spite of the inclement weather.

“A terrific storm hit just as the cooks were preparing to serve,” he said. But in spite of the weather “everyone seemed to have a good time. Thanks especially to the public who supported the pantry to the tune of $801.”

Aust also thanked John Moore and his assistant, Adrian Bench, at Bomgaars for sponsoring the event, Bryce Wood Band for providing music, Pastor Jeff Thames for providing tables and chairs, and Jarod Jenson for providing a tent.

Bomgaars provided gift cards of $125 to the first place winner, $75 for second, and $50 for third prize in two categories: main course and dessert.

Deven Juhasz won third prize in both categories, and Dan Palmer won second prize in both categories.

Tom Adam won first prize with in the main course and Lynn Moore won first prize for her desert.

“All dishes were remarkable and we hope that everyone and more will attend this annual event at Bomgaars in the future,” said Aust.
