BARBOURSVILLE - The village of Barboursville hosted its first community pumpkin carving event Saturday at Nancy Cartmill Gardens in the heart of town.

Participants were provided a pumpkin and tools in exchange for three canned good items benefiting the House of Hope food pantry at Abundant Hope Baptist Church in Barboursville. Pumpkins carved throughout the day will be displayed through Halloween and lit nightly on the sidewalk along Main Street in Barboursville.

The event was organized by the Barboursville Convention and Visitors Bureau, located in the adjacent historic Thornburg House, and Barboursville Parks & Recreation.
