The Weston Food Pantry is asking for additional Thanksgiving-related donations this week and will offer pickup service this Saturday, Nov. 19.

Weston residents may send an email to [email protected] stating the pickup address and specific location (e.g., on front porch, hanging on mailbox, at front door) and leave the donation out that day. Residents do not have to be home on pickup day, and no donation is too small or too large.

Suggested Thanksgiving-related, non-perishable, not-expired items include:

Juices/sparkling juice
Coffee/tea
Baking ingredients
Spices/oils
Canned vegetables (corn, onions, potatoes, pumpkin, etc.)
Boxed or bag stuffing
Gravy
Cranberry sauce

Pickup service is organized by Weston High School students Abby and Owen Tanzer. Weston Food Pantry Pickups operates throughout the year and is announced a week in advance.

The Weston Food Pantry also regularly requests the following items, always needed:
Peanut butter, breakfast cereals, toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste), paper products (paper towels, toilet paper, napkins), tuna fish, cleaning supplies (dish detergent), school lunch/snack items (cookies, pretzels, granola bars, Goldfish, pudding), and pet foods.

The Weston Food Pantry has regular donation drop-off hours on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. Donations may also be dropped off in a basket at Camelot Real Estate during business hours.

The Weston Food Pantry is also the recipient of many private and corporate donations, grants, food drives, and programs throughout the year, but the need to replenish the stocked items is continuous.

Since January 2016, the pantry has been governed by its board of directors, Anne Bigin, Margaret Krauss, Ruby Hedge, Erica Scioscia, and Stacey Tucker, who meet regularly with Weston Social Services Director Charlene Chiang-Hillman to ensure that Weston residents in need are supported. The Weston Food Pantry is a non-profit venture and is not financially supported by the town of Weston.
