Deerfield Valley Food Pantry Benefit Ride breaks records - Brattleboro Reformer

DOVER — A warm, sunny day made for ideal weather conditions on Saturday for the sixth annual Deerfield Valley Food Pantry Benefit Ride.

"We made $3,625, which is very exciting. It's the most we ever raised," said Deb Boyd, food pantry board member. There was a $100 donation from Luke's Lemonade Stand. The little boy, who was selling lemonade (next to the Valley View Saloon) all summer, donated his proceeds on Saturday."

Altogether, 87 people participated in the motorcycle ride. That was another record broken.

Music from Cadillac Envy, a local band performing rock-a-billy and a variety of different tunes, was enjoyed by riders upon their return at the Valley View Saloon in West Dover, where the after-party was held. Other event sponsors included Catamount Environmental and the Gray Ghost Inn.

Feed the MOOver will be the food pantry's next fundraising event. It will be held on Oct. 8 at Shaws supermarket in Wilmington.

The date for next year's motorcycle ride has been scheduled for Aug. 26, 2017.

"It continues to grow," said Boyd.

The food pantry serves residents from Wilmington, Whitingham, Jacksonville, Dover, Readsboro, Marlboro, Halifax, and Searsburg. No documentation is required for picking up food there. Forms are filled out and names of those served are kept confidential.
