We hope that you bought your dinner tickets to the 21st Annual Dinner and Silent Auction Fundraiser. The sold out crowd will be joining us Saturday, Oct. 19 at Johnson United Methodist Church, 4-6 p.m. No tickets will be available at the door. Even if you didn’t buy your ticket in time, feel free to bid on silent auction items with free admission. The auction will offer something for everyone. We are thankful to our new auction donors Step 2 and Greater Cleveland Aquarium, along with local favorites Lake 8 Movies, Coburn’s Quilting Plus and Magic City Kiwanis. Handcrafted items will include a hand-blown vase, a woven denim rug and embroidered placemat and napkins. Sluggers & Putters will offer family fun, and Akron Civic Theatre tickets will make for a great date night.
Our thank you to board member, Gary Christoff, and his wife Chris for helping to sponsor this year’s event. Other donors include Barbara Scott, Mary Jo and Wane Goss, Joe Carlucci, Robbin F Hazlett, Bruce and Ellen Beckle, Tom Clarke Inc Body Shop and Boilermakers Local 900.
If you need to eat and run, our new Early Bird Raffle is perfect for you. The ticket raffle winners will be drawn at 5 p.m.
Our $5 raffle is back. Buy your tickets during the event for an opportunity to win four great prizes: a diamond necklace, a Coach purse, Cleveland Orchestra tickets and Hilton Akron/Fairlawn stay. Winners do not have to be present to win.
While all of this event planning is going out, the staff and volunteers continue to serve the community. During the month of September, 384 families shopped the food pantry, totaling 1,173 people taking home 10,557 meals. Volunteers logged 590 hours unpacking an amazing 1,570 bags of groceries donated by the community. If you need food assistance, visit the Barberton Area Community Ministries Food Pantry at 939 Norton Ave., Tuesdays 1-5 p.m. and Thursdays 1-6 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Bring your photo ID and proof of residency in the 44203 zip code. Visit www.bacm.org for program details or like us on Facebook for daily updates.
