The next Lobo Food Pantry is scheduled Friday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or while supplies last. UNM sponsors the Lobo Food Pantry to help feed hungry students, as well as members of the campus community. The pantry offers free groceries donated by the Roadrunner Food Bank (RRFB) of New Mexico and through community donations.
The Lobo Food Pantry is located at the UNM South Parking Lot on the southwest corner of Avenida Cesar Chavez and Buena Vista, SE.
Although the Lobo Food Pantry is commonly advertised as a resource for students, it is also open to the UNM Community. If you are looking to help impacted families, please consider donating to the Lobo Food Pantry or other local food pantries.
Those interested in receiving groceries should bring a valid UNM ID and boxes or bags to carry the groceries. Students who wish to have another individual pick up their groceries must contact the UNM Dean of Students office at 505-277-3361.
The Lobo Food Pantry also accepts donations to help to keep the program going. To donate, visit the program’s donation page.
Additionally, volunteers should meet at 9 a.m. at the NE corner of south lot where they will be asked to sign in. The closest cross streets are Buena Vista and Avenida Cesar Chavez. Things volunteers should keep in mind is to dress for the weather, bring water and wear closed-toed shoes. Box cutters and gloves are always great items to bring along. What volunteers can expect is helping unload food from pallets, organizing it by type, setting up tables with food stations, and finally, distributing the food.
