Bethlehem Baptist Church reopens food and clothing pantry doors - WPBF West Palm Beach

Outside the Bethlehem Baptist Church food and clothing pantry, families lined up all to gain access to a pantry that holds goods that are much needed.The pantry doors opened at 10:30 a.m. and volunteers were ready to serve."Geesh, if I could show you how far we had to carry everything, then we had pods where we had to store we had to carry the tables in and out," Doug Elder said.Elder is the treasurer with Club 100 Charities. This group volunteers every Sunday to restock the pantry and make it available for the community.On Aug.28, 2018, the pantry was destroyed due to an electrical fire. Elder said it has taken a year to rebuild.The new pantry looks like a mini shopping store filled with clothes,food and hygiene products."It means a lot to us that's why we come and volunteer it feels good sometimes it's a little frustrating carrying stuff and receiving sofas when you don't expect them. In the end, we always feel good at the end of the day. We feel like we helped people," Elder said.The pantry is open every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at 425 Crescent Drive, Lake Park.
