Serving as both a celebration as well as a fundraiser, Faith Food Fridays will hold its first fundraiser from 2 to 6 p.m., Aug. 18, at 500 Walnut Avenue on Mare Island, according to a press release.
Called “Superb Sunday” the event will feature various vendors and stores, jewelry, art and more. Food booths will include barbecue, and will feature a no-host Vino Godfather bar.
A portion of all sales will benefit Faith Food Fridays. Other organizations, stores and boutiques have donated items that will be raffled off and there will be a silent auction.
The fundraiser part of the event has a specific purpose: replacement of the chain link fence that surrounds the grounds that Faith Food Fridays sits on which is in very bad shape, organizers explained.
Volunteers currently spend 5-15 hours a week repairing it or propping it up, just to maintain site security and to not be an eyesore to the surrounding neighborhood and public.
“We are celebrating because we recently received our own 501(c)3 non-profit designation and have been so blessed to be able to help our neighbors in Vallejo,” said founder and director Benjamin Buggs in the same release. “We look forward to improving and expanding our services and continue to be a source of hope to anyone who needs it.”
Faith Food Fridays is located at 826 Solano Avenue in Vallejo.
