Illinois Valley Food Pantry’s Christmas distribution will take place at the pantry Saturday, Dec. 15. Volunteers will be packing food for approximately 1,250 individuals; which is 450 families needing food assistance.
The pantry serves people living in La Salle, Peru, Oglesby, Utica, Cedar Point, Tonica, Lostant, Leonore, and Lowell.
To be eligible for the food order, you must be registered with the food pantry. The signup deadline is Wednesday.
Donations (monetary or food) may be brought or mailed to the pantry located at the new location; 122 Wright St., between First and Second streets in downtown La Salle during working hours: 9 a.m.-noon Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday.
The pantry will be closed for vacation beginning Dec. 24 and will start giving out food on Friday, Jan. 4.
