The past few years, EGFPD has let residents "pay" for snow emergency tickets with food pantry donations. Last year they collected over 1000 pounds of food But this year, due to a lack of snow, and a lack of snow emergencies, they haven't collected any donations. Police are asking the community to consider making a donation.
"Last year this program raised over a thousand pounds of food, versus this year with literally nothing at this point in time. A thousand pounds, it's a lot of food! And so if we could just get any kind of donation, it's going to help out some of those families that truly do have need," said East Grand Forks Police Chief Michael Hedlund.
