HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - A food pantry is facing a holiday season crisis; donations are down to a critical level.
Margaret's Pantry is running out of food at the worst possible time. Shelves that are normally stocked with canned goods are empty.
"We're having a huge shortage of food," Brenda Lamagdeleine said. "We're really having a hard time. I've never run out of vegetables ever in the 12 years I've been here. And I ran out this year."
Brenda LaMagdelaine told 22News that Margaret's Pantry distributed 85,000 pounds of food to more than 1,000 clients last month.
During November they'll need 100,000 pounds, if not more.
She only has a few turkeys to distribute instead of the 75 to 80 needed for Thanksgiving.
