YORK Residents interested in an evening out at a highly regarded local Italian restaurant should consider putting Wednesday, March 28 on their calendars.

On that date, the Knights of Columbus Star of the Sea Council in York will sponsor a special dinner at 1652 restaurant in the Short Sands area of York Beach to benefit the York Community Services Association Food Pantry.

Multi-course dinners, consisting of a choice of two appetizers, a choice of two entrees, and a surprise dessert, will be served at the flat rate of $25, of which $5 will go to the Food Pantry. Guests will also be able to make separate cash donations.

Dinner will be served between 5 and 9 pm. Diners must make reservations by calling the restaurant at (207) 606-0356.

Maureen Monsen, manger of the YCSA Food Pantry said, We are very grateful to the 1652 restaurant and the Knights of Columbus for their support of the YCSA Food Pantry. We are serving about 80 York families every week and we very much appreciate the support of our community.

Commenting on the mission of the YCSA Food Pantry, Grand Knight Fran LeClair said, The Knights of Columbus understands and wants to support the crucial assistance that the Food Pantry provides to York families in need.

Opened in August of 2017, the 1652 restaurant offers a varied gourmet Italian cuisine with seasonal changes. Never short of diners and well on the way to developing a strong base of enthusiastic patrons, management makes clear that the restaurant is intended to serve year-round residents of York and not just the summer crowd.

The restaurant has set aside Wednesday evenings as Community Nights, opportunities for local charitable and service groups needing to raise funds. So far, at least three groups have had Wednesday dinners.

As a York restaurant, we want to make clear that we are here for York residents and the community, General Manager Seija Koski explained.

We are looking on the Wednesday evening dinner as an opportunity to connect with and give back to the community, she said.
