The needAMEN Food Pantry manager Susie Kapelovitz welcomes anything that’s usable in the kitchen.
“The numbers are going up,”she said. “It’s people coming to town. They can get a job but don't get paid right away and they’ve got to have food. Then there’s the elderly people on fixed incomes -- they come to the pantry to supplement their income.”
Kapelovitz needs about 30 volunteers a month to keep the food pantry operational. Those interested are welcome to stop at the pantry during regular hours.
“If they tell us they want to volunteer, we’ll put them to work,” she said.
The pantry is open from 2-4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays. Vouchers are needed to be eligible for the food. They can be obtained from Social Services.
