Taxpayers who donate food or money to the Community Outreach Ministries’ food pantry can claim a tax credit equal to 50 percent of the value of the donation, up to $2,500.

The COM client-choice food pantry is affiliated with Ozarks Food Harvest and is the only USDA pantry in the county. It feeds 500-700 families monthly in Bolivar and surrounding towns, according to a COM news release.
Regularly needed food items include cereal, crackers, pasta, canned meat, cooking oil, baking mixes, condiments, canned fruits and vegetables, sugar and flour.
Checks can be made out to Community Outreach Ministries and mailed to PO Box 181 with “Food Pantry” in the memo line. Food donations can be dropped off at 320 S. Market Ave. anytime Tuesday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. or Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
