At the Tuesday night, Nov. 21, EMU football game, volunteers from Swoop's Food Pantry will be collecting non-perishable food items, winter clothing, household items or school supplies for the pantry itself. Fans who donate an item will receive free admission for the Senior Day contest versus Bowling Green State University at 7 p.m.
"With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we know there are many individuals in our community that need our support," added EMU senior quarterback Brogan Roback (Maumee, Ohio-Toledo St. John's Jesuit). "Please tell a friend to tell a friend to tell another friend that it's time for giving. Come on out to the game, not only to support our team on the field, but to help donate these much-needed items."
The mission of Swoop's Food Pantry is to provide temporary food assistance for enrolled EMU students in need. Swoop's is a sustainable resource on-campus with a goal of distributing food discreetly in an easily accessible and safe environment on-campus. Swoop's has partnered with local community agencies to provide students with additional resources to assist them with needs that go beyond Swoop's.
"It is the time of year to give and be thankful," said EMU football junior offensive lineman Jimmy Leatiota (San Jose, Calif.-Wilcox-College of San Mateo). Come out and bring some items to support your Eagles, as we play at The Factory for the final time in 2017 and get in free!"
