Meijer's Simply Give program supports food pantry - Petoskey News-Review

GAYLORD — The Otsego County Food Pantry accepted Meijer gift cards in the amount of $65,160 last month through its partnership with Meijer and the retailer’s customer-driven food pantry donation program, Simply Give. The donation was raised through the Simply Give campaign at the Gaylord Meijer store Aug. 20 through Sept. 16 through contributions from members of the community and Meijer.

The Meijer Simply Give program encourages customers to purchase $10 Simply Give donation cards, which are then converted into Meijer food-only gift cards and given to a local food pantry in the store’s community. The program runs three times yearly: spring, fall and holiday. Since the program began in November 2008, more than $32 million has been generated for food pantries in the Midwest to distribute to hungry neighbors.

The Otsego County Food Pantry is grateful to its partner Meijer and looks forward to their journey together as they continue to support families in need throughout Otsego County.

The Otsego County Food Pantry’s mission is to distribute emergency food to people who live or work in Otsego County. The distribution is done through charitable contributions of non-perishable food and/or funding from churches, organizations, individuals and businesses. The pantry is managed completely by volunteers and is a Michigan nonprofit corporation, tax ID #38-3374006.
