County Old Car club donates to local food pantries - Journal Gazette and Times-Courier

ASHMORE -- The County Old Car Club, established in 1967, is a family oriented organization for car enthusiasts. This year, club members voted to make one of their annual charitable donations to the Ashmore Food Pantry, located at 212 North Oakland Road.

This year, with assistance of the club's donation and donations from area churches, the food pantry will be able to purchase turkeys to be distributed for Thanksgiving dinners.

Another donation was made to Kansas Food Pantry, located in the Kansas United Methodist Church, 110 N Franklin St.

Kansas is a small community with a big heart. During hours of operation, they serve individuals and families who reside in the Kansas township. Monthly the food pantry will provide assistance with grocery needs for approximately 50 families.

During the winter season, the need for food pantry assistance significantly increases. Continued support is needed throughout the year to insure the families in the community food assistance needs are fulfilled. Local food pantries are able to purchase items from the Eastern Illinois Foodbank. Utilizing this resource, food pantries are able to purchase multiple items for the price of one in a grocery store. For this reason, a monetary donation will serve numerous individuals in need.

The Coles County Old Car Club is a small non-profit club. This year they donated $900 to local food pantries.

One does not have to own a vehicle to be a Coles County Old Car Club member. For club information, call club president Chuck at 217-348-8094.
